A.W. BROWN GOLDEN EAGLES CHEER
Philosophy/Purpose:
1. To be the cornerstone of spirit for A.W. Brown Leadership Academy.
2. To carry out new traditions that will involve the entire student body.
3. To serve as ambassadors for the A.W. Brown School Community.
4. To represent A.W. Brown through strict work ethic.
5. To demonstrate teamwork, positive attitudes, and strong leadership.
6. To serve as an example at school and in the community.
7. To demonstrate spirit through performances at various athletic activities as well as competitions.
Squad make up and selection:
· Varsity squad will have a maximum of 16 members who meet scoring qualifications.
· Junior Varsity squad will have a maximum of 16 members who meet scoring qualifications. All 2019-2020 6TH, 7TH, AND 8TH grade students are eligible for the Junior Varsity Squad.
· Mascots are selected through a tryout process. All 2019-2020 6TH, 7TH, AND 8TH grade students are eligible to try out for mascot. A maximum of two mascots will be selected. If there are no candidates trying out for mascot the director/coach may select qualified individuals to fill the position.
· Captains will be selected within two weeks of tryouts and will be selected through a combination of tryout score, teacher evaluation, squad evaluation, and Coach Score.
· Varsity squad may have one captain for the entire year and 2 co-captains. The. Only returning members will be able to tryout
· Junior Varsity squad will have one captain for the entire year and may have one designated assistant captain or rotating assistant captains as determined by the Coach.
Projected Costs:
Participants and their parents must be willing to meet all financial obligations that will occur during the 2019-2020 year. The May 10th deposit will be paid to A.W. Brown Varsity or Jr. Varsity cheer depending on which team your cheerleader represents. This fee is NONREFUNDABLE and with go toward the $372 NCA summer camp fees. Cheerleading is an extracurricular activity and it is a privilege, not a right to be a member. In order to meet the financial demands of the up coming season, each member will be required to prepay for all items and services rendered throughout the year. Specific due dates will be established for payments and published through groupme and monthly calendar. If a parent fails to meet the given deadline his/her son/daughter will be excused from the 2019-2020-cheer roster.
