Welcome! The A.W. Brown Health Services Department is a service provided to nurture and facilitate a daily healthy environment through a partnership with the school, children, and parents. We strive to educate and promote wellness and healthy lifestyles to ensure that students are prepared for a successful academic school and life experience.
School Nurses provide the following services:
- State Immunization compliance and enforcement
- Monitor immunization compliance
- Perform vision, hearing and spinal screenings
- Health and Physical Assessment/ State Required Screening
- Basic First Aid and Crisis Intervention
- Acute and Chronic disease management
- Communicable Disease guidelines
- Medication administration
- Skilled nursing care and procedures
- Assess and evaluate overall student health
- Plan action for elimination, minimization or acceptance of health problems
- Provide information and referral for health/emotional concerns
- Provide selected health services for staff
- Provide assessment, triage, and care of sick and injured students and staff
- Observe school facilities and recommend modifications to maintain optimum health and safety of students and staff
- Administer medications
- Follow-up concerns regarding student and community health
- Provide education on a variety of health topics to students, families, and staff
- Other health care and education related responsibilities as needed/discovered
