A. W. Brown Leadership Academy are original open-enrollment charter schools as provided by Texas Education Code, Chapter 12, Subchapter D. 12.101(b). A.W. Brown Leadership Academy admit scholars of any race, color, or national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities of the school. 

In February of each school year, Notification of Intent to Return information will be sent electronically to each home of an enrolled scholar. The parent/guardian of each returning scholar must submit their notice by March 19, 2018, for the scholar's name to be placed on a roster for the upcoming school year.

Applications from new scholar are accepted from January 16th through June 1st. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of vacancies, then a lottery will be conducted June 1st. During the lottery process, a computer randomly selects all completed and accepted applications submitted from January 16th through June 1st until capacity is reached. Lottery selectees shall be notified of their selection by phone or postcard. The remaining names shall be placed on the waiting list.
